Abstract
This qualitative research aims to explore how blind children adjust to the school environment. Conducted as a field study, the research involved direct data collection in the natural setting where the subjects carry out their daily school activities. These two participants were purposefully selected based on their unique visual impairments and experiences within the educational context. The researcher employed three primary methods for data collection: observation, interviews, and documentation, allowing for a comprehensive understanding of each child’s academic and social adaptation. The findings indicate that the process of school adjustment among blind children is not uniform but varies depending on individual characteristics, experiences, and levels of support received from teachers and peers. Both participants demonstrated challenges in comprehending learning materials due to limited access to visual information, which influenced their academic performance and confidence in class participation. Nevertheless, the study also highlights that with proper guidance, adaptive learning methods, and supportive school environments, blind students can gradually develop effective coping strategies. In conclusion, this research emphasizes the importance of inclusive education practices and individualized support systems to enhance the learning experiences and school adjustment of children with visual impairments.
