Pengaruh Media Pembelajaran Hand Puppet dalam Melatih Keterampilan Berbicara Siswa Kelas III SD Negeri 108422 Pasiran

Abstract
The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of using hand puppet media on the speaking skills of third grade students at SD Negeri 108422 Pasiran. The problem identified is the low speaking skills of students, as indicated by shyness, fear, lack of confidence, and limited courage to express opinions in front of the class. The study employed an experimental method with a Quasi-Experimental design, specifically the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The subjects consisted of all third grade students, with 20 students in the experimental class and 20 students in the control class, selected using the total sampling technique. The research instrument was a speaking skills test covering aspects of pronunciation, vocabulary, fluency, voice volume, and confidence. The results showed that the average pretest score of the experimental class was 45.65, which increased to 78.85 in the posttest. Meanwhile, the control class only increased from 44.15 in the pretest to 63.25 in the posttest. The data were normally distributed and homogeneous. Hypothesis testing using the Paired Sample T-Test and Independent Sample T-Test showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. In addition, the ANOVA test produced an F-value of 120.916 with a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant difference between the experimental and control classes. It can be concluded that the use of hand puppet learning media has a significant and effective impact on improving students’ speaking skills, not only in linguistic aspects but also in building self-confidence, courage, and motivation to be more active in classroom speaking activities. Therefore, H? was rejected and H? was accepted.
