Menafsir Ulang Teologi Beragama melalui Passing Over dan Esoterisme

Abstract
This article seeks to reinterpret the concept of religious theology by employing passing over and esotericism as methodological and spiritual frameworks in understanding religious pluralism. Passing over, as articulated by John Cobb and Raimon Panikkar, refers to the transformative engagement across religious boundaries in which an individual not only comprehends another religion intellectually but also experiences it spiritually. This study integrates this perspective with esotericism, which emphasizes the pursuit of inner meaning beyond the exoteric and legalistic forms of religion. Methodologically, the study applies a qualitative interpretive approach, focusing on theological discourse and interreligious dialogue as its primary sources. The findings reveal that interreligious dialogue grounded in esoteric experience and spiritual openness has significant potential to foster inclusive and transformative theology. Such reinterpretation of religious theology through the lenses of passing over and esotericism does not merely ensure peaceful coexistence but also promotes mutual spiritual enrichment among diverse faith communities. Ultimately, this approach affirms the importance of transcending doctrinal rigidity to cultivate a theology that resonates with the universal quest for meaning, justice, and harmony.
