Revitalisasi Nilai-Nilai Karakter Religius Melalui Kegiatan Literasi Sekolah: Studi Kasus di UPT SPF SMP Negeri 1 Bangun Purba

Abstract
This study addresses the declining religious values among students at SMP Negeri 1 Bangun Purba, as reflected in their decreasing respect toward teachers and parents, weakening social empathy, and increasing behavioral deviations. Unlike previous studies that focused solely on moral education, this research introduces an innovative model of religious literacy integration within school literacy programs as a practical and replicable framework for character development. The study aims to describe how religious values are embedded in literacy practices, analyze teachers’, principals’, and students’ understanding, and identify supporting and inhibiting factors. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that religiously oriented literacy activities—such as reading Islamic literature, reflective writing, and moral discussions—significantly enhance students’ moral and spiritual awareness. However, limited reading materials, low reading motivation, and digital distractions remain critical challenges. The study contributes practically by offering a replicable model of religious literacy implementation adaptable for other educational settings, providing a strategic approach to revitalizing religious character education in modern schools.
