Environmental Ethics in Bimanese Local Wisdom: An Islamic Philosophical Analysis and Its Integration into Environmental Education

Abstract
The global environmental crisis stems not only from economic pressures but also from moral decline and a spiritual disconnect between humans, nature, and God. Previous studies have not explored how Islamic philosophical ethics can be systematically integrated with Bimanese ecological wisdom, creating a clear research gap. This study aims to analyze the environmental ethics embedded in Bima’s local wisdom through Islamic philosophical perspectives and assess their relevance for environmental education. Using a qualitative ethnographic design, data were gathered through observation, interviews, focus group discussions, and documentation, then analyzed using NVivo 15. Findings identify core ecological themes—sustainable agriculture, forest and water governance, and customary regulations—rooted in traditions, folklore, and ritual practices. These values converge with Islamic eco-ethical principles such as khalifah, al-mizan, and amanah. The study contributes a unique model of philosophical convergence between Islamic thought and Bimanese ecological practices, offering a basis for spiritually grounded eco-pedagogy.
